Reasons for Considering Eyelid Surgery:

-Dark circles or bags under the eyes.

-Excessive skin or wrinkles surrounding the eyelids.

-A tired appearance or puffiness due to inherited factors.

Recovery Process
The healing process for this procedure is approximately 1 week.  Patients will have a more rested and youthful appearance. Patients sometimes report minor pain associated with surgery which can be treated effectively with oral pain medication. For the first few weeks, you may experience tearing of the eyes, blurry vision and/or sensitivity to light. If you wear contacts you will want to refrain from wearing them for up to two weeks.   While complications are rare, patients can minimize the risk for potential problems by carefully following the post-op instructions.

About Eyelid Surgery

The eyes are the focal point of our face and one of the areas patients seem to first notice in the aging process.  With aging, the upper eyelids begin to droop with excess skin hanging over the natural crease. An upper lid blepharoplasty removes excess skin, muscle and fat keeping the incision in the natural crease.  This procedure can easily be performed under local anesthesic.

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is performed to remove the excess fatty bulges that patients develop. Eyelid procedures are mostly performed under general anesthesia. While upper eyelid procedures heal very quickly, lower eyelid blepharoplasty can take 6-8 weeks before patients feel completely comfortable with their lower eyelids.
