Recovery Process
Patient’s will need to plan on having a friend or loved one available to help them for the first few days after surgery. This friend or loved one will need to meet with our private duty nurse the morning following surgery at the local hotel where the patient will be spending their first night. In most cases a restful few weeks off work is necessary to allow for an appropriate recovery. Dr. Andochick will usually place a specialized bandage around the breasts and a compression binder around your abdomen after surgery. The breast dressing is typically exchanged for a supportive lycra compression camisole shortly after surgery, while the abdominal binder is usually worn for a month. Patients will have pain following this procedure; however the pain is usually well controlled with oral pain medications. While complications are rare, patients can minimize potential problems by carefully following the instructions given after surgery.

About the Mommy Makeover
This popular term describes the procedure selected by many mothers after multiple pregnancies where they experience loss of breast volume and more sag as well as the standard changes of the abdominal wall and skin leaving a combination of depleted breast with looser abdominal wall and skin. Mommy makeovers consist of simultaneous breast augmentation and frequently associated lift along with abdominoplasty and liposuction. This is very similar to the abdominoplasty recovery. Mommy Makeover patients will be REQUIRED to stay with our private duty nurse postoperatively for a one night’s stay locally in a hotel. Mothers will need 2 weeks to recover most likely with extra help at home.
Reasons for Considering a Mommy Makeover Surgery:
- Sagging and deflated breasts which have lost their youthful appearance
- Presence of unsightly stretch marks as well as loose and flabby skin on the abdomen
- Loose and bulging abdominal wall that persists despite diet and exercise
- Wanting to feel better in your body after pregnancy, weight-loss etc.
